The state unit of BJP on Kolkata expressed confidence of holding the proposed meeting of BJP president Amit Shah in the city on November 30.

"We are confident that Amit Shah's meeting will take place in the city. We will also wait for the High Court order on the venue of the meet," West Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha told reporters in Kolkata. While the BJP wanted to hold the meeting in front of Victoria House in downtown Kolkata, the usual venue for the Trinammol Congress to observe its annual July 21 martyr's day rally, the police administration declined to give clearance citing reasons of traffic congestion and law and order issues.

The party retorted that it was a political move since November 30 was a Sunday and the reasons cited by the police would not hold water. Subsequently, the BJP moved the High Court challenging the decision and the matter would come up for hearing tomorrow.
