The BJP refused to play ball with its ally, Shiv Sena, on its resistance to talks between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shahryar Khan and Board of Control for Cricket in BCCI President Shashank Manohar to discuss resumption pf cricketing ties between the neighbouring countries.

BCCI secretary and BJP leader Anurag Thakur condemned the demonstration by Shiv Sena activists at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday.

"In a democracy everyone has right to protest, but entering the BCCI premises was uncalled for. I condemn it," he told dna. Thakur, a BJP MP, said there should have been no objection to talks between the PCB and BCCI.

"The BCCI will take a decision in India's interests and as per the government's decision. There are several angles taken into consideration like the team's security, pending issues between the cricket boards and prevailing sentiments in the country," Thakur said.

Other BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who are both union ministers also castigated the Shiv Sena for attacking the BCCI headquarters. Their advise to Shiv Sena against intolerance comes a day after BJP President Amit Shah summoned BJP leaders– Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, union minister Sanjeev Balyan, MP Sakshi Maharaj and UP MLA Sangeet Som– to warn against making inflammatory remarks.

"The way there is a rise in the cases of intolerance, the Shiv Sena must avoid doing this. They should show some tolerance," Rudy said.

Naqvi, who is minister of state for minority affairs, also condemned the agitation saying protests should be in a peaceful manner. Indian Premier League Chairman Rajeev Shukla also expressed his disappointment with the protest at the BCCI headquarters.

The BJP and Shiv Sena have been at loggerheads over issues like Ghulam Ali concert in Mumbai and release of book of Pakistani foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri's book.
