BJP Chief Amit Shah meets PM Modi to discuss Indo-Pak impasse

BJP chief Amit Shah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night and both the leaders are believed to have discussed the NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan. Shah called on Modi on a day India made it clear to Pakistan that the talks cannot be held if it insists on talking to Kashmiri separatists and expanding the agenda of talks beyond terror.

BJP has been strident in its opposition to any talks between the Hurrriyat leaders and Pakistan's NSA Sartaj Aziz, ridiculing it as a 'recreation' which can occur after the NSA-level engagement.

Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday night confirmed that the NSA-level talks between the two countries will not be taking place. 

"Pakistan reiterates that the scheduled NSA level talks cannot be held on the basis of the preconditions set by India. We have come to the conclusion that proposed NSA level talks between the two countries would not serve any purpose if conducted on the basis of the two conditions laid down by the Minister (Sushma Swaraj). Main purpose of any dialogue between India and Pakistan is to reduce tensions and restore trust as a first step towards normalization," read the Pak MoFA statement.
