A day after Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy came up with audio tapes where BJP state unit president BS Yeddyurappa was purportedly heard offering money to JD(S) MLA Naganagouda's son Sharan, BJP MLA from Mahadevapura Aravind Limbavali alleged that the BJP has a video tape where Kumaraswamy is seen demanding Rs 25 crore bribe from aspirants for the MLC seat.

"When the party was deciding on MLC nomination, Kumaraswamy had demanded Rs 25 crore from one of the aspirants and we have video proof of it. We will request the Speaker to view the video tape in his chamber. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy can also come along and explain himself. He is making false allegations against the BJP. The JD(S) got mimicry artists to record the audio, but we have video proof," Limbavali said.

Earlier in the day Congress held a press conference in Delhi alleging that senior BJP leaders were trying to topple the Congress-JD(S) government in the state by offering money to lawmakers. Congress general secretary and AICC in-charge of Karnataka KC Venugopal, national communications chief Randeep Surjewala and state party president Dinesh Gundu Rao were present at the press conference.

The Congress leaders said that the issue will be raised in the Parliament on Monday. They also urged Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi to take suo motu cognisance of claims made in the tape that they (JD-S) would manage the lawyers in the apex court.

Playing an audio tape, the JD(S) had alleged that Yeddyurappa was trying to lure a JD(S) MLA by offering him Rs 10 crore. The Congress leaders also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were directly involved in the attempts.

"The BJP is trying to destabilise the elected government in Karnataka. We will seek an answer from the Prime Minister because his name has been taken by his own party people who said that he and BJP president Amit Shah would deal with the Supreme Court," said Venugopal.

Surjewala said PM Modi needs to come clean on how the BJP managed to offer Rs 450 crore to the 20 MLAs. "Did the money come from the BJP, or the PMO? Will the CBI and the ED raid Yeddyurappa?" said Surjewala.
