The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday backed Indresh Kumar?s suggestion of Muslim families adopting cows and learn about their benefits and said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader has not asked for imposition of any rule but has simply explained the scientific advantages of the bovine.

BJP leader Shaina NC said Kumar has only highlighted the medicinal values of the cow and the fact that the Holy Quran says that we should not be consuming the meat of the cow.

?I don?t see why anyone should have a problem with the Muslim Rashtriya Manch that is the working towards assimilation of the society, where Hindus and Muslim work alike and understand the ethos of each other?s culture,? said NC.

?Indresh Kumar ji has only highlighted how the Quran says that we should not be consuming the meat of the cow and the medicinal values of the cow. So I don?t think it is the question about any kind of imposition, it is about explaining its logic and its scientific process,? she added.

Echoing similar opinion, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that Kumar, who has been working on the Hindu-Muslim unity, has just give a suggestion, while adding that when we can ban eating of peacocks why cannot the same rule apply on cows.

?Indresh Kumar has been working very hard on the issue of Hindu-Muslim unity, and now he shared this idea which is not a command but is just a suggestion,? he said.

?When we have banned peacock killing and the Muslims have accepted that, so banning of cows slaughter because of its special quality of milk and its use of its dung in purpose of manure, as well as its urine used for medicinal purposes. I think it is ban with one can easily live with. In my appeal nobody is asking you to become vegetarian but eating cow is certainly not compulsory,? he added.

Indresh has appealed Muslims to protect cows by opening gaushalas (cow shelters) and stop eating beef.

The MRM's two-day meeting in Roorkee, Uttar Pradesh, starts on Friday and it is likely that the body could air its official views on beet eating and triple talaq.
