Reacting to the serial blasts that occurred in Patna, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday accused Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government for failing to provide adequate security for the party’s prime ministerial aspirant Narendra Modi’s Patna rally.

BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said that Modi is a serious target of many terror groups, and added that the Bihar police have completely failed in ensuring proper security arrangements.

“BJP expresses heartfelt condolence for those people who have been killed in serial blasts in Patna. The Hunkar rally, in which the chief speaker was Narendra Modi, is a serious target of many terror groups, and in a rally, which was going to receive several lakhs of people, for the blasts to happen, is an indication that the Bihar police have failed completely,” she said.

“The Bihar Government has failed completely, in providing a comprehensive security cover for the chief minister of Gujarat and the people who came for the rally of this kind,” she added.

Earlier in the day, five people were killed and 72 injured in the serial blasts of Patna, which occurred ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rally at Gandhi Maidan today.

According to media reports, one person, who has admitted to the crime, has been arrested in connection with the serial low intensity blasts in Patna today.
