English professional motorcycle endurocross rider Dougie Lampkin said India is witnessing a growing culture for biking.
Lampkin, who was in Goa to attend the India Bike Week (IBW), told reporters on saturday that the enthusiasm of participants at the juncture is a reflection of country's growing biking culture.
"It was an absolutely thrilling experience to have been a part of India Bike Week-2016. Goa is a beautiful place, with beautiful people. It was great to see so many motorcycling enthusiasts together and that truly reflected the growing culture for biking in India," Lampkin said.
The two-day event held at Arpora village in North Goa concluded yesterday which saw as many as 90 biking shows.
"I now understand why IBW is mentioned as the ultimate biker's paradise and while it is great to see the culture for biking take root in the country, I am honoured to have been a part," Lampkin, who was on his maiden visit to India, said.
Founder & CEO of 70 Event Media Group, which organised the event along with Lifestyle Channel Fox Life and Shell Advance, Martin Da Costa said in its fourth iteration, IBW witnessed thousands of riders migrate in from across domestic and most importantly from international borders like Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, UK and Germany.
The highlight of the concluding day was 'IBW Great Migration' that saw over 20 national biking clubs participate at an exclusive parade through the IBW Main Street where bikers from Bangalore, Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad, Kolhapur, Kerala showcased their rides through one of the longest constructed parade routes.
Another exciting event was IBW National Stunt Championship which witnessed participation of over eight teams, and featured competition of one of the most challenging and disciplined forms of biking, he said.
Team from Mumbai called 'I STUNT' emerged as the winner of the event.
On the concluding day, India's first ever official Hard Enduro event was held which saw an overwhelming response of over 60 participants through amateur Moto Cross riders from across India.
