Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Wednesday said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership can help Bihar flourish.
"This Nitish-Lalu (JD-U-RJD) duo cannot take Bihar forward, only Modi ji's leadership can help Bihar flourish. Under the governance of Nitish, BJP workers are insulted, but still we have worked for the development of Bihar," said Shah at a rally.
"I have seen the situation of Bihar and I can say that the BJP will be victorious in this election. It can be clearly seen that the BJP will get a clear majority," he added.
Shah accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of ditching the people of the state and the workers of the BJP, and warned that he would have to pay for it during the election.
Meanwhile, JD(U) spokesperson and former diplomat Pawan Verma described the Bharatiya Janata Party unit in Bihar as a sinking political ship that was offering freebies to the people of the state to stay poll relevant.
He was responding to the filing of a case against Sushil Modi, the president of the Bihar unit of the BJP for trying lure voters by promising them free laptops, colour TVs and sarees during his public address ahead of the state assembly polls.
"An FIR was lodged against Modi on the charge of alluring voters on Monday at his public meeting in Bhabhua, the district headquarters of Kaimur," a district police official said
Modi, who was Bihar's former deputy chief minister, had reportedly promised the freebies during his public rally at Bhabhua.
