With the Lok Sabha polls round the corner, political parties are again gearing up to organise mega rallies in Patna, to kick-off their poll campaigns for the 40 constituencies of Bihar.

Leaders and supporters of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) are enthusiastically making preparations for the party's "Jan Akanksha Rally" slated for February 3. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address the rally, to be held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

"Senior leaders of the BPCC have been directed to make arrangements for the people who will be coming to take part in the rally. Oral invitations have already been sent to leaders and formal invites will be sent in the last week of January," a source said and added, "It is likely the Mahagathbandhan parties will reach on a seat-sharing agreement in Bihar by then."

A senior Congress leader said the party cadre was very excited after its win in the recent Vidhan Sabha polls. "The appointment of Priyanka Gandhi as general secretary will also give a major moral boost to party workers," he said.

Following the Congress party's rally, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will also organise a rally to launch its electoral campaign in Bihar. For the first time following the re-entry of CM Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United (JD-U) into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA in 2017, Kumar and PM Narendra Modi will share the dais at a public meeting in Patna.

A source in the JD-U said the meet is likely to be held in the first week of March. "Apart from the BJP top brass, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan is also expected to be there."

It may be recalled that Kumar and Modi had launched scathing attacks on each other ahead of the last LS and Vidhan Sabha polls, when the JD-U had broken away from the NDA.
