Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday said Bihar government was determined to develop industries in the state and would provide all possible help to investors and entrepreneurs.

"We are determined to develop industries in the state. We also want to encourage agriculture-based industries so that farmers get maximum financial benefits for their produce. The single-window system to promote industrial development has been put in place for this purpose," Manjhi said while inaugurating a rice mill in Akodhigola in Rohtas district.

"Investors are showing keen interest in the state and have started investing here. The state government will try to increase their number by two to three times by creating favourable circumstances for them including better law and order as well as electricity supply," he said.

The chief minister said an "Industrial Cabinet has been formed which meets on last Monday of each month. It holds meetings and discussions with industrialists, entrepreneurs to promote industrial growth in the state and then takes necessary steps."

"We have also simplified the land acquisition process with an eye on industrial growth. Bihar is getting around 2900 MW electricity on Tuesday in comparison to 800 MW in 2005. The state will start getting around 4,000 MW by this year end. It will create favourable circumstances for industries," Manjhi said.

The chief minister said the state was following the 'roadmap' prepared for agricultural development and pointed out that farm sector could be developed at a faster pace if it was accorded the status of an 'industry'.
Manjhi also called on the farmers to not only produce paddy and wheat, but also focus on other crops including oilseeds.
