Even as the Chennai dog-Bhadra awaits justice against those who flung her off the terrace in July, the good news is that she has found a permanent home.

Antony Rubin, animal rights activist who filed an FIR as well as the petition in the Court against both the accused confirmed that Bhadra has been adopted by Chennai resident Karthik Dhandapani who was fostering her since the time she was found injured.

"Karthik is a close friend and an animal lover and also an active part of the team fighting for justice for Bhadra.  Initially when we found her suffering from severe injuries there was lot of pressure as Bhadra gets a new home people wanted to see her and hence to ensure she gets rest we decided to keep her at his house," said Rubin adding that even in between seeing how close Bhadra had got to Karthik and the way he cared for her we asked him if he would want to adopt her but he was not very sure but two weeks back he agreed and we are glad Bhadra has a home and a family.

"Bhadra is a darling and extremely adaptable. Even my mother is now attached to her as Bhadra has made all of us fall in love with her since July," said Dhandapani, a mediaperson, who shared that given her injuries he does not take her out for walk as of now but the terrace of their house is currently her playground where she gets her required exercises by running around.

While Dhandapani who is an animal lover said that he has had foster animals with him and had always wanted to adopt a dog it was a big responsibility and he wanted to ensure his mother too is comfortable with a dog. "Initially my mother was a bit sceptical but now Bhadra is a part of our family as my mother adores her," he said adding that he hoped that more people came forward to not only help strays but also adopted them.

Rubin informed that they keep visiting Dhandapani's house to see Bhadra and play with her.

The cruelty against Bhadra got worldwide attention after a video of the two medical students from Chennai- Gautam Sudarshan who flung a dog off the terrace while Ashish Pal who filmed the incident went viral in July after which the cops launched a manhunt with increasing pressure from animal activist.

Bhadra who was found with fractures and has been completely healed, however, she will have to live with a permanent limp as her right hind leg has been damaged beyond repair.
