A Gujjar faction, headed by former MLA Atar Singh Bhadana, on Monday launched a stir demanding five per cent quota in government jobs and educational institutions for members of the community in Rajasthan.

Hundreds of Gujjars were heading towards state capital Jaipur from all directions to stage an indefinite mass protest (Mahapadav) in support of their demand, Bhadana said.

Bhadana himself was leading a group of marchers from Shahpura in Jaipur district to the state capital.

"We will converge outside the state secretariat in Jaipur and start the Mahapadav on May 31," he said over the phone.

Gujjars from Faridabad, Gaziabad, Sonipat and Gurgaon would also stage a protest at Rajghat in Delhi on May 31 in support of their demand, Bhadana said.

In the past, Gujjars have launched several agitations under the leadership of Kirori Singh Bainsla for five per cent quota in government jobs and educational institutions.

Bainsla is not part of the agitation this time.
