A man from Manoharpur has registered a case against his wife and a self-proclaimed godman from Jaipur for having an illicit relationship.
The man has even alleged that his wife became pregnant and due to fear of public stigma, an abortion was conducted.
The Jhotwara police are investigating the matter. According to police, one Sanjay Kumar Verma, a native of Indra Colony of Manoharpur town near Shahpura, registered the case against his wife, Maya Devi and a godman identified as one Shivnath who lives in Dadi Ka Phatak area.
“Sanjay married Maya in 2012. However, the duo used to have frequent spats. He also said that his wife told him about the relationship between her and Shivnath,” said Manohar Singh, investigating officer of the case.
In his FIR, Sanjay has alleged that Maya and Shivnath had got married secretly in 2011. Still she married Sanjay in 2012 due to family pressure and fear of public stigma.
The investigating officer said, “Maya informed Sanjay about her relationship with Shivnath. She even asked Sanjay to leave her.
She threatened him of lodging many cases against him. The matter came before the family members who also tried to pacify the couple but failed. Sanjay said that his wife used to beat him and even left home earlier this year.” In March, the woman approached Sanjay and told him that she was pregnant.
“When Sanjay questioned about the pregnancy, she told him in front of the entire family that she was pregnant with Shivnath’s child,” the official said. When the matter came to the knowledge of relatives of the woman, they asked her to abort the foetus.
“Sanjay has alleged that his wife agreed to get the foetus aborted.
She even named Shivnath in the documents. Sanjay also told that they hid the foetus to remove all evidences,” the official told dna.
The Jhotwara police have registered a case in this matter and started investigation.
