"Israel has a strong hi-tech economy, highly innovative industry, and free trade agreements with US, European Union and Mercusor."

On its part, India is a giant market with huge agricultural sector (17% of GDP), growing infrastructure, many initiatives such as Digital India, Make In India, Smart Cities, Skill India, renewable energy capacity addition which offer much opportunity to Israeli companies.

As far as Israel's co-operation with Maharashtra's government is concerned, Netanyahu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are expected to discuss opportunities in the field of agriculture – particularly to address the contentious issue of farmers suicides and farm distress with application of innovation technology developed by Israeli companies.

A state government officer said, "In addition, the Israeli companies and Indian government agencies will further extend co-operation in water conservation, especially since the government has already launched the flagship Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyaan project (aimed at making the state drought-free by 2019). Other sectors include food processing, communication, home land security and information technology. Israeli companies can also use India as a laboratory."

Netanyahu will also have a one-on-one meeting with Fadnavis, who had visited Israel in 2015 and actively pursued co-operation in agriculture, water conservation, tourism and movie shooting.
