The Bengaluru police have treated the case as high priority reportedly and are looking out for the driver.
In Bengaluru, an Uber driver allegedly misbehaved with a techie passenger when he was driving her from HSR Layout to SG Palya on Tuesday night. The woman passenger's brother complained to Uber on Twitter as well the police about the lewd driver say media reports.
Her brother wrote to Uber on social media stating: "Soon after my sister boarded from HSR Layout sector 7, the accused driver stopped the car multiple times in the slow moving traffic. While waiting at the Silk Board signal, the driver started to touch himself while the car was stationary, and continued the lewd gesture until she reached home." The brother has told media that Uber did not reply to their complaints immediately.
The woman techie also took to twitter to write about her traumatic experience. She wrote: “@Uber_BLR - Harassment on roads. You have creepy drivers on board. It is a tough life out there for women. I am sickened.”
When she reached home and confronted the can driver he denied any wrongdoing reportedly. In fact, the cab driver apologised and told her to give him a five-star rating on the Uber app.
The Bengaluru police have treated the case as high priority reportedly and are looking out for the driver.
Though Uber had been alerted about the incident as soon as the incident took place (between 7.30 and 8.15pm on March 22), the company did not reply till 3pm on Wednesday.
An Uber spokesperson has been quoted by Deccan Chronicle as stating that they have spoken to the passenger and driver and the driver has been wait-listed. They are also co-operating with the police.
In July 2015, another techie was allegedly abused and harassed by an Uber driver as well. She filed a complaint with the police and the driver then dismissed by Uber.
