Bengaluru to have India’s first smart shopping district

Bengaluru will soon be home to India’s first smart shopping district. The city is already referred to as the IT City. 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar, a street filled with high-end stores, will be Internet-of-Things (IoT) enabled.

A report in Deccan herald states that more than 30 stores on this road will be part of the new initiative which will be enabled through the Mobmerry App. The app will connect consumers and retailers in real-time and inform consumers about new products, discounts, deals and so on. Stores like Avirate, Celio, Guess, Jack & Jones, Kazo, Lee, Vans, Vero Moda and Wrangler, on 100 Feet Road have signed up for this already.

According to the report, Mobmerry App has been devised by Interaction One, a Bengaluru-based start-up. It uses bluetooth technology which provides the IoT connectivity.

A press release about the initiative says, “A merchant can effortlessly showcase his products with just the touch of a button and has been provided with a facility to push live marketing feeds directed to a specific target audience. The app alerts the retailer of the customer’s basic details and preferences as soon as the customer walks into the store."
