A 45-year-old woman software engineer was allegedly attacked by a mob for reporting illegal cow slaughter to police in Bengaluru.

The incident reportedly took place when Nandini M, the complainant, tried to rescue cattle from an illegal slaughterhouse at Avalahalli near Thalaghattapura on Saturday evening.

"I and my friend reached the spot with two policemen. But a mob of over 100 people threw boulders on my vehicle and damaged it. I and my friend were injured in the incident," she said.

Nandini alleged that the two constables who were with her got down from her car and did nothing.

She also alleged that when she returned to the police station, the sub-inspector there shouted at her, refused to take pictures of us as proof of the attack

"I now feel the SI work hand-in-glove with those criminals," she told India Today.

The Thalaghattapura police said they have registered a case based Nandini’s complaint, however, no arrests have been made so far.

Police have claimed they had rescued 14 cattle heads from the illegal slaughterhouse in Avalahalli based on the complaint lodged by Pushpa Bhist, another animal rights activist.

Meanwhile, Former chief minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa condemned the violence on Twitter.

"Condemn the brutal mob-attack on the woman who exposed illegal cow slaughter. This violent attack today in Bengaluru is another proof law and order breakdown under Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.
