A three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at her school in Indiranagar on Tuesday, police said.

Parents of the child came to know of the incident when their daughter complained of pain in her private parts after returning from school on Monday afternoon, following which they informed the police.

"The girl has been admitted to Lady Curzon and Boring Hospital. She is three years old and it will be difficult for her to identify the culprit. We have to follow many procedures,'' said a police inspector.

A case has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and investigation is on, the police said.

Parents of the students from the school staged a silent protest outside the school building, in front of Holy Shepherd Education Society in Indiranagar. Parents protesting the incident are mostly from Manipur. They staged a protest demanding action against the culprit of the alleged sexual assault.

Meanwhile, police beefed up security near the school to maintain law and order. Policemen from other police stations have been deputed to the spot to prevent any untoward incident.

According to Michael of Thadou Students Association, the school management has denied the alleged sexual assault. "They claim that they had installed CCTV cameras in the school and wanted us to go by the footage of CCTV cameras. We want the guilty to be punished," said Michael.
