On the second and concluding day on February 8 of Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the summit had not only been successful but also a remarkable one.

“Till now the investment offers of about Rs 2,84,288 crore have come. 86 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) has also been signed. The number of B2C meetings held was 45, while 1200 B2B meetings happened. This proves our credibility, credential, and sincerity,” Banerjee said.

The CM also said that Bengal will prove to be the 'investment destination'.

She also said that there will be an additional rise of 8 to 10 lakh jobs owing to the investment that had been proposed.

Taking a dig at the Central government during her concluding speech, Mamata Banerjee said, “India lost two crore jobs in 2018 after demonetisation and hurriedly done GST but in Bengal, we have managed to reduce 40 per cent unemployment.”

Mamata Banerjee went on to further say that the MSME sector employed 1.2 lakh persons and would create employment for another two lakh people.

The West Bengal Cm also announced that multi-national companies have expressed their interest in investing in the state.

“We have created a replica of Silicon Valley on 400 acres of land where companies such as Reliance Jio and TCS have put up their units. We have now added another 100 acres and initiated the second phase where companies such as Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Capgemini, ISI and Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research have expressed their interest,” she said.
