Amid the mixed reactions on Padmaavat across the country a day ahead of its scheduled release, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that law and order in the state would be maintained and welcomed the release of the movie in Bengal.

Kolkata Police sources said that police personnel would be deployed outside every multiplex and standalone theatres screening the film.

"Everybody should stick to the court's ruling. The court is a constitutional body and according to the court's verdict the name has been changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat. I will be happy after it releases in Bengal," Mamata said.

Shifting the blame for troubles on saffron brigade, she said, "Pro-BJP organisations, such as Bajrang Dal, are trying to create trouble. BJP must rein in these organisations. Law and order should be maintained. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace," she said.

PAST INVITATION

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had earlier invited team Padmaavat to conduct screenings when they were facing protests from across the country over the depiction of Rani Padmavati.
