In a clean victory by the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) in Vasai and Nalasopara despite the BJP's Modi wave. Party workers sensed victory with a big margin as early as after 12 rounds in two constituencies.

Hitendra Thakur, president of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, defeated Vivek Pandit in Vasai constituency by more than 30,000 votes while his son Kshitij Thakur defeated Rajan Naik of the BJP by over 40,000 votes. The clean sweep for the BVA has been seen as a major blow to the national parties, especially the BJP despite the Modi wave.

The doubtful seat which could have been lost was that of the Boisar constituency for BVA. But sitting MLA Vilas Tare managed to conquer it against Shiv Sena candidate Kamlakar Dalvi.

"We had an assured victory and we sensed it since we were working for the development of the region, as most of the work has been done by us and people have kept faith on us despite the so called Modi wave which affected Lok Sabha election results," said Hitendra Thakur, BVA president. "We have great vision for this region and we owe to the partyworkers and the people of this region."
