Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) convener and rebel RSS leader Subhash Velingkar on Sunday said their doors are open for Goa BJP legislators if they want to join his soon-to-be-launched political outfit.

"Some BJP MLAs are not happy with the party's decision, their conscience does not permit them to accept what party has been saying. I feel that they should show the guts and come with us. Our doors are open for them. We will welcome them," Velingkar told PTI, after chairing the meeting of district and taluka level workers of BBSM on Sunday. He also attacked Manohar Parrikar over his comments about being a "disciplined swayamsevak", saying the Defence Minister is wrong if he feels his actions (over medium of instruction issue when he was Goa CM) were of discipline.

Velingkar also hit out at Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and said they will lose their 'kavach kundals' (immunity) after the Goa Assembly elections. The RSS had recently relieved its Goa Vibhag Sangh Chalak Velingkar, who has now formed a parallel outfit called RSS Goa Prant.

Velingkar had earlier announced that the BBSM would be floating a political party on October 2. The BBSM has been agitating demanding regional languages as Medium of Instruction in state's elementary education. He claimed that the BJP is apprehending its defeat in the Goa polls due next year, and hence might try to pre-pone the election to November by keeping everyone guessing.

Velingkar hits out at Parrikar and Parsekar

Reacting to yesterday's statement of Parrikar that he is a disciplined swayamsevak, Velingkar said, "Parrikar thinks himself as disciplined swayamsevak but we are standing against his discipline."

"We have to agitate because Manohar Parrikar committed all these mistakes. He is solely responsible for that. He did not take anyone into confidence. If he feels that his action is of discipline then he is wrong. Entire Goa is against him, that does not mean all people are indisciplined," he said.

Responding to Parsekar's statement that Velingkar has now lost his "kavach kundal" (immunity), the BBSM convener said, "My kavach kundal does not depend on the RSS post, I am swayamsevak for the entire life."

"Our kavach kundal is not of temporary nature. Their kavach kundals will be off after five months (when elections are held)," he said.

Velingkar equated the BBSM movement to that of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption crusade

"This is agitation of the people. The support for the agitation is increasing with each passing day. In this agitation, 20 per cent are sangh swayamsevaks and 80 per cent are common people," he said.

Velingkar said BBSM hopes that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which aligns with the ideology of the manch, would accept the offer to have a pre-poll alliance. "BBSM will hold a meeting on September 27 to decide on the alliance with MGP. But in the meantime we are going ahead with our plan. We are ready to face the election. We are only waiting to shortlist candidates in 35 seats," he said.

He said BBSM will field candidates against MGP, if it is reluctant to break ties with BJP and join hands with them. He claimed that the MGP would be able to win 21 out of total 40 seats in the election with the help of BBSM.

"With BBSM and MGP, there are 14 seats where we are A plus, three seats A grade and we can wrestle out more four constituencies so that we can attain 21 figure. MGP can win on its own. This is a political transition in Goa," he said adding that without MGP, BBSM will be able to win ten seats. He said BBSM is expecting that BJP would be more aggressive as the election nears.

"I am expecting that they will be aggressive with the elections nearing...but I am not afraid of them as they can't pick up anything against me," he said. He said BBSM welcomes the comments of BJP leaders (asking party workers to speak out against BBSM), and said "after October 2, we will also start talking against them".

"Our agitation will not be restricted only to language as a subject, we will take up other issues also required to defeat any political party. We will highlight their defects and drawbacks," he added.

Velingkar was "relieved" as Goa RSS chief on August 31 after BBSM expressed its intent to launch a political party to take on BJP in the 2017 Goa Assembly polls. His supporters had detached themselves from the RSS' Konkan prant, and had formed the 'Goa prant', which the RSS leadership had refused to recognise. He has been spearheading a hectic campaign for the primacy of regional languages like Konkani and Marathi as medium of instruction (MOI) in schools and wanted the BJP government to stop support to English medium schools.

Velingkar has locked horns with the BJP government headed by Laxmikant Parsekar over the issue, with members of his outfit even showing black flags to party chief Amit Shah during a recent visit to the state.
