Owners of banquet halls in Haryana will also be held responsible for mishaps due to celebratory firing or bursting of firecrackers during weddings or other functions, the state government said today.
The Haryana government has decided that owners of banquet halls would take affidavits to this effect before making any bookings.
"In case an incident takes place, then the owner of banquet hall would also be held responsible," state Transport and Housing Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said at a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committee in Sonipat.
He issued directions to officers after a complaint was received regarding the death of a man in celebratory firing.
A three-year-old girl was also killed in celebratory firing during a wedding ceremony in Yamunanagar district a year ago.
