Bandra fire adds to Mumbaikar's woes on a rainy day

On the day that heavy rains brought Mumbai to a standstill, a fire broke out at a shoe store in Kenilworth Mall at Linking Road, Bandra. According to fire safety officials, the fire began before business started and no one is believed to be trapped.

As of noon, the fire is believed to be under control.  Four fire engines have been rushed to the spot. Apparently, the combustive nature of leather led to the fire spreading faster than normal. Authorities have urged residents not to use the road because of the traffic congestion.
