Denied another Rajya Sabha term, the firebrand Hindutva leader and Bajrang Dal founder Vinay Katiyar has asked Hindus to be ready for making yet another round of martyrdom for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Speaking in Ayodhya, Katiyar hinted at launching yet another movement for beginning the construction of grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. “It requires launching a final movement and making another round of martyrdom,” he urged Hindus of the country.

Taking a dig at his own governments at the Centre and state, Katiyar said that Hindus have waited long to begin the construction of the Ram temple. “Now the time has come to launch another movement no matter which government is in power,” he said.

Katiyar took a holy dip in Saryu and paid obeisance to Ram Lala and other temples on the eve of the Chaitra Navarata. He renewed the resolve to take a similar course for construction of Ram temple which Hindus had taken in 1990 for pulling down the mosque.

“Ram Janambhoomi is seeking more sacrifices and Hindus should be ready to lay their lives one more time,” said he.

The former Rajya Sabha member reminded order for firing on innocent Kar Sewak in Ayodhya in 1990 by then Mulayam Singh Yadav government. “As many as 3.5 lakh Hindus have so far laid down their lives for the liberation of Ram Janambhoomi. It may require more lives. We should ready for that,” said Katiyar.

Even as the land dispute case is pending before the Supreme Court, Katiyar’s provocative statement in Ayodhya has charged the communal atmosphere once again. It seems that an attempt is being made by the Hindutava forces to revive the Ram Janambhoomi issue again ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP, however, has distanced itself from Katiyar’s statement. The former BJP State President Laxmikant Bajpai said that the party’s stand is very clear on the issue. “The party would go by the settlement of the land dispute either through talks or by the verdict of the Supreme Court which is hearing the case on day to day basis,” he clarified.
