Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur has found himself in the middle of a controversy.

The octogenarian minister was speaking at a state-level convention organised by BJP's naturopathy cell on Sunday. At the event, he said that once a Russaian lady greeted him with a kiss on his forehead. But when other women approached him, he stopped them. He said, "Russian women are healthy. Had that photograph (of a woman kissing his forehead) been available locally, BJP would not have given a ticket in the first place."

When the audience cracked up on this funny anecdote by the minister, Gaur went ahead to narrate another story. But that didn't get a positive response from the audience.

He said that once the wife of a Russian leader was curious about how he wore the dhoti without a zip or a belt. To this he replied, "I told her I can’t teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later not now."

The Congress Party on Tuesday criticised Gaur's controversial dhoti comment and demanded an apology.

“It is shameful what Gaur has said. He has been making such comments about women time and time again. This exposes his and his party’s mindset as far as women are concerned. Gaur should immediately apologise for his comment,” Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza said.

This is not the first time that Babulal's comments has drawn ire. Last year, he termed rape as a "social crime", sand said "sometimes it's right and sometimes it's wrong." The BJP had distanced itself from this comment.
