Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Friday rubbished reports of bullets found in his hand baggage by security officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and termed it to be a conspiracy to defame him.

Khan, who called the reports as baseless and untrue, even refused that he was carrying a bag.

"Almost all the electronic and print media have been showing this news that some bullets have been recovered from my briefcase. I didn't have any briefcase or bag; I just had one case of spectacles and a cell phone. The news is absolutely incorrect and untrue, it is a conspiracy to defame me," said Khan.

"I condemn it……. After this news at the airport where my bodyguards were not present, anything could have happened. I could have been attacked or killed or it could have proven dangerous for my family," he added.

Denouncing the reason behind such an attempt, he demanded for an apology for spreading this rumor against him.

According to certain media reports, Khan was yesterday stopped by security officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after he was found carrying four live rounds of bullets in his hand baggage before boarding a flight to Lucknow.
