On the 25th anniversary of VHP's 'shilanyas' of Ram temple at a disputed land adjacent Babri mosque, its convenor Mahant Brij Mohan Das on Sunday said both the communities should come together on a platform for a peaceful solution to the issue.

"Now a plenty of time has passed, we are still fighting for the temple and Muslims for their masjid, why don't both the communities come on a same platform for peaceful solution, we are ready to talk on this issue," Das said. However, the oldest litigant of Babri mosque case in Supreme Court, Hashim Ansari, said,"The issue of Ayodhya dispute we are fighting in the court is not a conflict for a mosque or a temple, but it is a battle between rule of law and anarchy, it is a confrontation between the order and the mob, so let's see what is the future."

On November 9, 1989 VHP laid the foundations of a Ram temple on a land adjacent to the 500 year-old structure of the mosque. The move changed the direction of Indian politics. The local administration of Faizabad had first denied permission of 'shilanyas' to VHP, but later the permission was granted. This 'shilanyas' was done on Nazul plot number 586 located in the periphery of the mosque. It was done at a time when ND Tiwari was heading Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, UP Governor Ram Naik will attend a VHP leader's function in Ayodhya on Tuesday. This is the first visit of Naik since he assumed charge as Governor. According to the information provided by the local administration, Governor will take part in a medical camp organised by Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, a senior VHP leader and president of Ram Janam Bhumi Nyas, a trust under whose banner VHP had announced to build Ram temple in Ayodhya.
