A medium danger to unlikely danger avalanche warning was issued on Thursday for some avalanche-prone districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

A medium danger to unlikely danger avalanche warning was issued on Thursday for some avalanche-prone districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
In a series of tweets, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said it has avalanche warning from the Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) for several districts in three states.
The warning bulletin issued by SASE, valid from 5 pm December 21 to 5 pm December 22, has warned of avalanche for altitude above 3000 mtrs for Laddakh Division and for altitude above 2500 mtrs in other districts.
Medium danger level warning (Level 3-Yellow) has been issued for following Ganderbal in Kashmir, the NDMA said.
A low danger level warning (Level 2) has been issued for Kargil.

"Unlikely Danger level warning (Level 1) for following Distts- Jammu Division- Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur. Kashmir Division- Anantnag, Kulgam, Badgam, Baramulla , Kupwara and Bandipora. Laddakh Division- Leh. Himachal Pradesh- Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla. Uttarakhand- Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Tihri Garhwal," the NDMA said.
Earlier, three soldiers were killed after they were swept by avalanche along the LoC in Kashmir on December 13. Their bodies were found a week later.
