More than 10 soldiers of the Army have been reported missing after an avalanche hit the Siachen Glacier in Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The avalanche hit the northern part of the glacier. The missing army personnel belong to the Madras Regiment, says a report in the Tribune.

An Army spokesperson said to the publication that rescue efforts had been launched. However, further details about the status of those missing are not available yet.

Last month, four soldiers of 3 Ladakh Scouts were killed when their patrol party was hit by a massive avalanche in the Ladkah region of Jammu and Kashmir.
