Controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen's residence permit of staying India is likely to be extended, reports a leading English daily.
According to the report quoting officials in Home Ministry, author's residence permit application is currently under process and a final decision will be taken soon and conveyed to her. Taslmia's residence permit expired on Monday. The author temporarily shifted base to US few months back citing security threat alleging that Bangladesh terror groups have targetted her. At that time, Nasreen said that she tried to reach out to Indian government to cite her concerns but got no reply.
On Monday, Taslima took to Twitter to convey that her residence permit is yet to be extended.
Dear India, have you extended my resident permit? My permit is going to be expired today. I applied for the extension months ago.No news yet

The report indicates that Home Ministry is likely to take favourable call in this matter.
Nasreen had to leave Bangladesh in 1994 in the wake of death threat by fundamentalist outfits for her alleged anti-Islamic views. Taslima is now a citizen of Sweden. She has been getting Indian visa on a continuous basis since 2004.
She had been living in exile since 1994 and has lived in the US, Europe and India in the last two decades. However, on many occasions she had expressed her wish to live in India permanently, especially in Kolkata. The writer had to leave Kolkata in 2007 following violent street protests by a section of Muslims against her works.
