"We have asked the South 24-Parganas district magistrate and the Kolkata police commissioner to inquire into the matter and take necessary action at the earliest," SEC S R Upadhayay said. "We have asked if the BJP already had the permission, then why did the problem crop up all of a sudden? Were enough policemen posted there? Has necessary action been taken in the case, has anyone been arrested," he asked.

The actress-turned politician's convoy was attacked on Tuesday allegedly by ruling TMC supporters in the city's upmarket Alipore area, where she had gone to campaign for the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation election.
