Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General (IG ) Munir Khan on Tuesday said that the attack on a BSF camp near the Srinagar International Airport was not a setback and it was repulsed successfully.

Killing all three militants in an operation that also claimed the life of an assistant sub-inspector of the force, security forces foiled an attempt by the Jaish-e-Mohammed to storm a BSF camp.

The gun-battle also forcing brief suspension of air traffic and closure of schools in the vicinity.

"Three terrorists were killed, unfortunately, we lost one ASI. The terrorists were from Jaish-e-Mohammed," Munir Khan said speaking to media.

However, taking a swipe at the media for saying that the attack was setback, the IG requested them to be reasonable before running news.

"Such attacks will continue to happen as long as Pakistan is our neighbour. I don't know how some sections of media are saying it is a setback, it is not. Attack was repulsed successfully," he said.

Khan also said that they are looking for 6-7 terrorists and need to neutralise them very fast.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh complimented the security forces for successfully eliminating the terrorists involved in an attack.

Singh said he has spoken to the chiefs of the Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force following the suicide attack near the Srinagar airport.

"I have spoken to the DG CRPF and DG BSF. It was a good operation that they have conducted," he told reporters here.
