An interstate criminal involved in the smuggling of drugs for the last 15 years has been arrested by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Rajasthan police from Chittorgarh district.

The accused Rajendra Singh had escaped from police custody from Merta city in Nagaur district while being taken to Punjab for a court hearing in 2013, the ATS said in a release here.

Singh, who carries a cash reward of Rs 10,000 on head, was on the radar of the ATS for some time and was caught yesterday from Chittorgarh district near Madhya Pradesh border.

Rs 6.44 lakh was also recovered from Singh's possession.

He was handed over to Merta city police station today in connection of the case of his escape, the release said.

The accused is an interstate criminal involved in the smuggling of drugs for the last 15 years and was named in several cases of attempt to murder, loot, drug smuggling among others in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, it said.
