Within 48 hours of ACB arresting additional collector of North Goa for accepting a bribe, it has registered another case against an engineer of the power department for demanding a bribe of Rs 18,000 for an electricity connection.

The anti corruption bureau registered the case after a video of the assistant engineer, Vishwanath Bhat, went viral on social media. The complainant had shot the video himself and posted it on YouTube.

"I am telling you, give me Rs 3,000 more and we both will end up being happy," the engineer is seen telling the complainant. The video further reveals that an amount of Rs 17,000 has been paid to the accused and balance payment of Rs 1,000 is yet to be made.

The engineer is seen accepting Rs 2,000 and counting the notes of Rs 100 denomination. The complainant also explains that he is carrying only Rs 2,000 with him and as such he wouldn't be able to pay him extra Rs 3,000 as demanded by the government official."Pay me Rs 1,000 later. Don't worry," the engineer is seen telling the complainant in the video.

The complainant tells the engineer that people are ridiculing him for paying such a high amount for an electricity connection to which the engineer is seen explaining how the total cost of his connection has escalated.

ACB registered an FIR against the Vishwanath Bhat. They have secured the video and have commenced further investigation into the matter.
