With the exit polls throwing up pretty mixed fortunes for the main contenders in twin states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the leaders of both Congress and BJP parties are sure to have sleepless nights until Tuesday.

All three possible options have been predicted — majority to BJP, majority to Congress and a hung house with both parties coming close to the magical figure of 115 in MP and 45 in the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh but not crossing it.
NDTV is among the closest giving BJP 40 and Congress 43 seats in Chhattisgarh (total 90 seats) while in MP it predicts 110 seats for BJP and 108 seats for Congress — meaning no party is forming government here with clear majority. But Times Now suggests a clear verdict in favour of BJP in MP, though with less number of seats. A regional channel, News State of the Delhi-based News Nation says BJP is getting 108-112 seats against 105-109 for Congress, thus confusing the netas and followers no end. ABP channel has given a clear verdict in favour of Congress forming government in MP.
The exit polls have actually thrown up a hazy picture with no one in a position to surely predict a correct number. There are at least 10 independent agencies and TV channels which have thrown up various statistics about the popularity of chief ministers, voting percentage, issues around which the polls were conducted and so on. "But with almost every agency contradicting other's predictions, the scenario has perplexed me," admitted a senior journalist from Raipur.
BJP insiders, however, say "irrespective of some exit polls showing Congress ahead of us, we are forming government in both states on the basis of good governance, welfare schemes and the organised way we fought the polls."

Some independent analysts say the united fight Congress put up against a much more resourceful BJP in both states may see the opposition party ending its long drawn drought and seems coming closer to forming the government
