Expressing shock over the death of a journalist in police firing in Manipur on Sunday, Journalists Forum Assam (JFA) has urged the O Ibobi Singh government to investigate the incident.
JFA in a statement in Guwahati said the Manipur government should also provide compensation to the family of journalist Thangjam Nanao Singh.
Singh (29) was killed in police firing on bandh supporters at Thangemeiband on the second day of the indefinite strike in Manipur called by a film body demanding the arrest of a Naga militant for allegedly molesting a Manipuri film actress in public view on December 18 at Chandel.
Singh, a reporter of the private TV channel 'Prime News' was hit by a bullet on his chest. He succumbed to his injury at the hospital later.
