Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday asked his department officials to come up with innovative projects that would be announced on January 1 next, an official release said.

"Every department has to come up with innovative projects that could be included in next year's budget," Gogoi asked senior officials of different departments at a meeting.

The chief minister also asked Principal Secretary, IT, Rajeev Kumar Bora to expedite the process for launching e-districts governance with focus on a public grievance redressal system, the release said.

Stating the mechanism was in place and it would be operationalised from January, Bora apprised Gogoi that efforts were on to revive some of the Community Information Centres.
Bora said the less-paper office concept would be introduced in eight to nine departments at the Assam Secretariat by December.

Gogoi also asked General Administrative Department and Secretariat Administration Department Principal Secretary MGVK Bhanu to put in place the Public Facilitation Centre at the Assam Secretariat to receive public grievances.

The Chief Minister said he would review the status once in a month, the release stated. Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla was asked to direct the Deputy Commissioners to launch the 'Raijor Padulit Raijor Sarkar' (People's Government at People's Doorsteps) with full vigour from January 1.

"The administration has to come closer to the people and redress their grievances at their doorsteps," he said. The Chief Minister also agreed to Khosla's suggestion to hold Lok Adalat every month to clear backlog of works.

Gogoi also directed the Information and Public Relations Department Commissioner and Secretary Dr Ravi Kota to gear up publicity focusing on the achievements, initiatives and targets of every department.

The department was asked to produce documentaries focusing on the development that has taken place in different sectors in the past 14 years, and also to publicise the major events coming up in the State.
