A five-year-old girl died after she was allegedly gang-raped and then set ablaze by five persons at her home.

The incident took place on Friday in Nagaon's Bordua in Assam.

The girl was reportedly raped in her house when she was alone in the home after returning from school. Then the accused poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.

The victim was found by one of the family members when they saw smoke coming out.

According to a report by News18, the victim sustained 90% burn injuries and was admitted at the Nagaon Civil Hospital. But on her way to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Meanwhile, police have arrested two accused in connection with the case.

“I went to see her at the hospital. She was in great pain and had difficulty in speaking. However, we have recorded a dying declaration of the victim and based on that we have nabbed two accused - they are both juveniles who studied in the same school along with the victim. The operation is underway to nab the third,” the reports quoted Nagaon SP Shankar Raimedhi as saying

A case has been registered in this regard and further probe is underway.
