The first list of Congress party candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections is dominated by bigwigs and sitting party legislators. Nine Cabinet ministers out of 12 have been given tickets. Besides, nine state ministers have also got the tickets.
Meanwhile, the Assembly speaker and two other Parliamentary secretaries have been given tickets in the first list.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will contest from his old Sardarpura seat in Jodhpur.
Meanwhile, names of cabinet ministers Bina Kak, Harji Ram Burdak and Hemaran Choudhary have been dropped from the first list.
Durru Miyan has been repeated from Tijara, Bharat Singh from Sangod, Brij Kishore Sharma from Hawa Mahal, Mahendrajeet Malviya from Bagidora and Prasadi Lal Meena, who fought as independent candidate last time, has got the party ticket from Lalsot.
Others from the league who made it to the first list are UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal from Kota North, Jitendra Singh from Khetri, Rajendra Pareek from Sikar and Ashok Bairwa from Khandar.
Almost all cabinet and state ministers have been repeated from their own constituencies. The remaining three cabinet ministers may feature in the coming lists.
However, nine ministers of state out of 14 have been given the party tickets, which include Vinod Kumar Leelanwali, Manju Meghwal, Gurmeet Kunnar, Mangilala Garasiya, Dayaram Parmar, Ameen Pathan, Murari Lal Meena, Brijendra Ola and Rajendra Gudha. Meanwhile, the remaining ones including Ram Kishore Saini, Virendra Beniwal, Rajkumar Sharma and Naseem Akhtar Insaf, have been dropped in the first list.
As many as nine cabinet ministers and an equal number of ministers of state have been
repeated by party. However, deserving names like Bina Kak and Hemaram Choudhary are
missing from the list.
