Police arrested a devotee of Asaram Bapu, the self-styled godman who is undergoing trial in a case of sexual assault, for creating nuisance on the court premises on Wednesday. The devotee, identified as Akshay Shivam Shukla, was later sent to judicial custody.

Police said Shukla, a resident of Naini in Uttar Pradesh, was roaming at the court with a shoe in his hand. "Shukla reached at the entrance of the District and Session court where the trial of Asaram's case was in progress with a shoe in hand... He entered into an argument with the guards...," said Harji Ram, SHO of Udaimandir police station.

During interrogation, Shukla told police that he was not happy with the judge in the Asaram case. "We arrested him before the judge enter the courtroom. Otherwise, he could have attacked the judge with the shoe," the SHO said.
