Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi has said people were disappointed with his failure to get a large number of seats for the BJP in the general elections, in the same way as people are disappointed when Sachin Tendulkar fails to score a century.

“People are not upset when any other player is out with a low score,” said Modi, “but if Sachin Tendulkar is out even at 90, he is criticised because people judge him on a different scale. I’m glad that I, too, have been judged on a scale of expectations and not on a scale of credit and discredit.”
