Amid ongoing row over purchase of a new house by Arun Jaitley in Amritsar, the veteran BJP leader and a contestant for Lok Sabha election from the holy city, today shifted to his new residence.
Prayers were held to seek blessings of the Almighty as Jaitley moved into the new house in upscale Green Avenue locality.
Several Punjab BJP leaders including Balramji Das Tandon, Laxmi Kanta Chawla and state unit chief Kamal Sharma visited Jaitley's house and congratulated him. The purchase of a new house by Jaitley has sparked a row with former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who is pitted against the BJP stalwart in Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency, complaining to the Election Commission seeking inclusion of the cost of the house in election expenses.
Amarinder says Jaitley's move is aimed at garnering support of the people who, according to him, have dubbed the BJP leader as an outsider. Jaitley had retorted saying the Congress leader should purchase a house across the border.
