Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said he was glad that former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has finally joined politics as he had always tried to convince her in this regard.

65 year old Bedi formally inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday. BJP chief Amit Shah welcomed Bedi to the party and said that her joining would strengthen the Delhi. He also confirmed that she would contest the Delhi Assembly elections next month.

The BJP chief, however, downplayed media queries when asked whether she would be fielded in the election against Kejriwal or whether she would be the chief ministerial candidate, saying that was a decision for the party's parliamentary board to take.

Bedi, who was a prominent member of Team Anna, said that she has joined the BJP 'due to the Prime Minister's inspirational leadership'.
