AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal got the highest TV coverage during prime time news followed by BJP's Narendra Modi and Congress's Rahul Gandhi, a study said here Monday.

An analysis of five news channels by CMS Media Lab showed that while the Aam Aadmi Party chief received 429 minutes or 28.19% of the time during 8-10 pm from March 1 to 15, Modi secured 356 minutes (23.98%).

Rahul Gandhi received 72 minutes of coverage (4.76%), followed by Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad at 46 minutes (3.05%) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena founder Raj Thackeray at 33 minutes (2.2%), the study said.

The channels studied were Aaj Tak, ABP News, Zee News, NDTV 24X7 and CNN IBN.

"Rahul Gandhi received six times and five times less coverage compared to Kejriwal and Modi respectively. The coverage demolished a popular myth of the 2014 election that Modi is media and media is Modi, as Kejriwal toppled Modi in news coverage," CMS Media Lab said.

In terms of parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the No 1 political outfit, followed by the AAP and the Congress.

CMS Media Lab said it arrived at the figures based on coverage time given to election topics and subjects.
