As the election battle hots up in Punjab, senior Akali Dal leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has accused Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriewal of flirting with pro-Khalistani elements. “Kejriwal is playing a dangerous game. After realising that he is losing his base, he has started aligning with radical organisations,” he told DNA.

Badal cited the example of Kejriwal’s recent meeting with RP Singh, who heads Babbar Khalsa International, a terrorist organisation. The Akali-BJP combine, which is facing a three-cornered contest, is battling incumbency, having been in power for 10 years. He also accused AAP MP Bhagwant Mann of inciting people to throw stones at him.

Badal ridiculed former Chief Minister and Congress leader Amarinder Singh’s promise of ending VVIP culture in the state. “He should first return his security because he has hundreds of people protecting him. I get requests from his people frequently on the ground that better vehicle or a new car is required,” he said.

Badal added that the battle for Punjab was as important as the one for UP. The elections are crucial in the sense that if the AAP does will, it would be pushed to national scene,

The Deputy CM said his father Parkash Singh Badal will continue to head the government if the SAD-BJP coalition returns to power. “There is no question of transition,” he added.
