Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief , Arvind Kejriwal today claimed that the more the BJP delays holding elections in the national capital, the better would be the prospect for his party to clinch more seats. "The more the time is delayed for holding elections,in Delhi, the chances of AAP taking its lead will gallop even higher. If elections are held now we will win 40 seats, in October we will get 50 seats, in February next year we will get 55 seats, after that if they delay then they (BJP) will face a similar situation here, like the Congress is seeking leader of opposition position in the Lok Sabha," Kejriwal said at a huge rally here at Jantar Mantar.

While challenging the BJP and the Congress to fight elections in the capital, he alleged that the BJP was in total control of Delhi's Lieutenant Governor (Najeeb Jung). "All the parties used to taunt us before and say that if we have guts, then we need to fight polls, now we challenge before the BJP and the Congress that if they have guts, then they should hold and fight elections. BJP is in total control of the Lieutenant Governor, BJP dosnot want elections, I have found from some media friends who say that the BJP has conducted an internal survey, where they have found if they conduct elections now they will lose badly, same goes for the Congress. It is only AAP which wants elections," he said.

He claimed that is the people of the national capital who wants elections sooner, so that their problems gets resolved. " It is the people of Delhi who want polls. People want immediate elections, that's why elections should be held. LG says that the BJP doesnot want elections, ditto says the Congress MLAs. It is the people who will decide. In a democracy it is the people's writ that should run , and not that of any lawmakers," he added.

"Women in the household are fed up with the rising prices of vegetables, they want elections soon to get relief from this difficult situation of price rise. People still remember those 49 days of our rule when the traffic police stopped taking bribes. Those people whose electricity bills have increased threefold now wants elections, it is these people who believe that is only AAP who can provide good governance. It is only AAP which can bring in line the electricity supply companies," Kejriwal further added. Delhi is currently under Governor's rule since Kejriwal had resigned from his post within 49 days of becoming the Chief Minister.

AAP had often alleged that the BJP will not allow the party to form government in the national capital and are opting for divisive politics. They also alleged that BJP was shamelessly indulging in unethical practices and luring lawmakers to form government in Delhi, which was highly condemnable. The BJP had won 31 seats in the assembly polls in December last year but its number came down to 28 in the 70-member house after three of its legislators including Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan, were elected to Lower House of the Parliament.
