Arunachal Pradesh crisis: CM Nabam Tuki, ministers dismissed following President's Rule imposition

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and all his ministerial colleagues were dismissed on Wednesday with immediate effect by the Governor of the state, a day after President's Rule was imposed following political instability.

In an office memorandum, Governor Jyoti Prashad Rajkhowa said all other political appointments made by the Chief Minister, such as advisers, OSDs and special officers also stand terminated.

"Security coverage of former chief minister, ministers and parliamentary secretaries will be immediately assessed by the Standing Committee and action taken accordingly," the Governor said.

The memorandum said this is being done in pursuance of the notification made by President Pranab Mukherjee to bring the state under central rule.

All precautionary, preventive, and other measures will be taken for maintenance of law and order and public peace, the memorandum said adding, no bandhs, road blockades, gheraos and such illegal activities are to be allowed.

The Governor directed the chief secretary to immediately seal the offices of the former chief minister, ministers and parliamentary secretaries and to ensure that all government files, documents are taken in safe custody.

Rajkhowa, based on whose report the Union Cabinet decided to impose President's Rule in the state, also asked the chief secretary to take into custody all official vehicles and office equipments retained with the former chief minister, ministers and parliamentary secretaries.

The Governor ordered that all the files meant for disposal by the CM, ministers and parliamentary secretaries, including those regarding transfer and postings of officers in the rank of SPs, joint secretaries, director, head of departments and chief engineers be sent to him.

However, proposal for transfer and postings for other officers should be disposed off by the chief secretary and principal secretaries concerned, the memorandum said.
