Arun Jaitley, LK Advani, Rajnath Singh among several union ministers attend engagement ceremony of Amit Shah's son

Several Union ministers of the Narendra Modi government, senior politicians and other dignitaries reached here today to attend the engagement ceremony of newly-elected BJP national president Amit Shah's son Jay Shah.

Dignitries who were present on the occasion at the Young Men's Christian Association Club on S G Highway here included BJP veteran LK Advani, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Prakash Javdekar, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu. Minister of State for Social Justice Thawar Chand Gehlot, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Mines and Steel Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha were also present.

BJP leaders and Members of Parliament who attended include BJP general secretary JP Nadda, senior BJP leader Hridaynath Singh, Balbir Punj, Ram Madhav, Meenakshi Lekhi, Anurag Thakur among others.

Gujarat BJP in-charge Om Mathur, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh also arrived at the venue in the evening. Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel along with several state ministers, BJP leaders and MLAs attended the function. Chairman of Adani Enterprises Gautam Adani was also present at the ceremony, which started at around 6pm at the Club amid tight security. 

Since Amit Shah is also president of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), cricketer Parthiv Patel, former GCA president Narhari Amin and newly-elected president of the International Cricket Council N Srinivasan also graced the occasion. 

After arriving at the airport, Kalyan Singh said, "Shah must be given all the credit for winning 73 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. Now, when he is elected as BJP's national president, our party will get strengthened in other states also."

Since Modi went to attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil, he could not attend the function.

Meanwhile, on the BRICS Summit, Javadekar said, "This meeting with other BRICS nations will prove crucial for India in developing bilateral ties. The whole world has high hopes from the Indian government. I am sure that the meeting of our PM with other leaders at the summit will meet with great success."
