Reacting to the recent claim made by former Supreme Court judge and current chairman of Press Council of India, Justice Markandey Katju, former union minister Shashi Tharoor said Monday that this issue cannot be discussed in parliament as Article 121 of the Constitution forbids any discussion over a judge."We cannot discuss the issue in the parliament, as Article 121 of the Constitution condemns us to take up any discussion on a judge. Even we do not want such issues to be taken up in parliament," said Tharoor.

"If there is some resolution taken to remove the judge, the issue can be discussed at that time," he added. Katju has claimed that a district judge, who had several allegations of corruption against him, was not sacked and was elevated to the position of an additional judge of the Madras High Court, owing to the pressure put by a Tamil Nadu-based party on the UPA Government and the judicial collegium.
